Laila (Kalki Koechlin), an adventurous Delhi student with cerebral palsy, lives at home with her family but yearns for independence and the opportunity to explore her sexuality. With her mother’s encouragement, she applies to and wins a scholarship at NYU. As she adjusts to her new environment, Laila finds herself romantically entangled with Khanum, a blind Pakistani woman, who disrupts Laila’s desire for normalcy, and Luke, a British student who embodies it. When she brings Khanum to Delhi to stay with her family for the summer, Laila must face a painful crisis at home. Winner of the Best Asian Feature at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
